Otik

words by Tom Pittard

Bristol-born DJ and producer Otik has developed the sounds he heard in the city’s clubs and parties as a teenager to create ethereal club music that blurs the lines between UK bass and techno. Citing influences from Joy Orbison to Sully and Burial, Otik’s latest EP Soulo was released last year on Martyn’s label 3024. The release shows the producer’s mixing talent by creating a distinct emotional sound for each track, ranging from the euphoric and uplifting Soulo to moody club banger Garuna. Showing his eclectic music taste on numerous mixes featured in publications like Crack Magazine and on the Dekmantel podcast, Otik has since been featured on BBC Introducing and DJ Mags Selections series. Catch him at Field Day Festival and in clubs in London and Bristol this year.
