Live Review: Model/Actriz

Model/Actriz certainly knows how to make an excellent first impression. The American band’s first gig in Bristol will stay with everyone who witnessed it. The noisy post-punk act are one of Brooklyn’s biggest recent hopes and had the crowd locked from their first song onwards. People moshed, moved and melded to the raucous, industrial sound of an act of top form – the majority of the music coming from their latest album Dogsbody.

Frontman Cole Haden came off stage and wandered into the crowd with purpose. Wandering with intent, he’d choose someone to make intense and meaningful eye contact with, singing to them directly. Having garnered a formidable live reputation in The US, you can see by the inter-activity with the audience why people keep flocking back to their shows. Although a sold-out venue, it still had an intimate feel that made you feel closer to the band. It was a special night, and you certainly don’t want to miss the next one when they’re in Bristol.
