In room two of The Crofter’s Rights, with a capacity of just 80 people, Izzie Auty-Dawe’s first headline gig was a perfect, intimate set that showcased the raw emotions of her songs and left the audience in tears. With support from Nora, Jamie Yost and RV, the entire evening was a non-stop display of some of the most talented lyricists perhaps hidden in Bristol’s music scene.

Having witnessed Izzie several times before, this was by far the most honest and vulnerable the singer has ever performed. The newest song, Uncomfortable provided a slightly unsettling spin, as the title suggests, on Izzie’s everyday easy-listening style. Expressing a feeling of overwhelming energy and overstimulation, her sense of uneasiness is portrayed through her lilting falsetto notes and unresolved guitar melody. The audience is welcomed into Izzie’s life and captivated by her deepest thoughts, anxieties, and confessions.

No doubt a fan favourite, Front Row Seats was the standout song of the evening. Released earlier this year, the acoustic ballad whispers feelings of helplessness and a lack of control while watching yourself lose a loved one. The song was reimagined on the night with ethereal riffs of electric guitar performed by support act RV. Every crowd member was silent, aside from a few tears and sniffles when the song reached its emotional climax. Izzie came off stage and was met with deafening applause as almost everyone in the audience waited to congratulate her with hugs and smiles.
