Protest The Hero

By Resonate | June 13, 2020

The prog-metal gods, Protest The Hero, are absolutely destroying the emo music scene through massive breakdowns and hair as long as their guitar solos. Starting strong, their first album Kezia ignited a fresh fire in the world of metal. Evidently, the group doesn’t take itself too seriously. Take Ollie Sykes’ poses and apathetic whines, which have become a key part of their act. With six albums under their belt, the Canadian chuggers are back with their new album Palimpsest and everything to prove. The new single, The Canary, throws us into a nostalgic portal. Rody Walker’s theatrical vocals climb impossible scales, to abrasive drumbeats and entrancing arpeggios. The emo music track sounds familiar, yet adds a modern edge that shows us why this band really won’t be forgotten.
