Fuck The Charts: Grim Sickers

By Dylan Shortridge | August 5, 2020

Rising grime star Grim Sickers’ latest single Falling Down, slows the tempo for an introspective look on his life. After collaborations with Mike Skinner, Ghetts and P Money, it’s his turn to be in the UK rap and grime scene’s spotlight. With this track, he’s taken Fabien Darcey under his wing, and this up and comer is showcased here.

With shared hometown origins, the song is a passion project and homage to their roots.  It moves away from the aggressive, grimey beats that Grim Sickers is more widely known, displaying a new side to the rapper. The lyrics add new layers of vulnerability that steer away from previously focused rave tones. This fresh angle gives the track layers and explores a side to the artist I was welcome to see.
