A RESONATE-CURATED SELECTION OF THE LATEST MUST HEARS THAT MISSED THE MAINSTREAM. FROM -TO -, WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED

HUMANE THE MOON

Emerging from the grey sprawl of East London, Humane The Moon is the sonic creation of Max Hanley – a musician bubbling with frustration for the mundane. Taking influence from bands like Fontaines D.C and Radiohead, his most recent EP Debris Joice is a restlessly raw collection of post-punk-infused indie rock. Tracks like The Curb pulse with a feverish energy, balancing chaotic instrumentals with pensive lyricism. With a hunger for visceral live shows, Humane The Moon is quickly collecting a frenzied following, one cathartic track at a time. Give it a few years and I’m certain we’ll see their name turn big.

TTSSFU

Based in Manchester, TTSSFU is Tasmin Stephens’s dream-pop, shoegaze solo project. Drawing inspiration from bands such as My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth, Stephens is a multi-instru-mentalist heavily inspired by 90s shoegaze and experimental rock. On her most recent EP, Me, Jed and Andy, TTSSFU in-corporates the eeriness of The Cure, blending it with the BPM of The Strokes. Entirely crafted in her bedroom on Garage-Band, TTSSFU’s music is a moody, atmospheric soundscape exploring themes of love and the complexities of coming of age through distinctive vocal delivery reminiscent of Wolf Al-ice’s Ellie Rowsell. Since signing with Parisian Records and following support slots with the likes of English Teacher and Soccer Mommy, TTSSFU is on track for a breakthrough year

SIGNATURE VISION

Since their formation in 2017, Signature Vision have honed their live performance, making a name for themselves amongst their local scene in the southwest. Drawing influence from the sonics of the Britpop era and merging it with current trending, anthemic indie such as Sam Fender, Catfish & The Bottlemen and The K’s, Signature Vision captures the essence of being a young adult and coming of age in working-class Britain. Through vivid storytelling and lyricism, they depict their day-to-day life within the boundaries of a catchy melody. On latest single, Stratosphere, the band found inspiration in Fontaines D.C.’s Starburster, precisely the spoken word lyrical style and madness of the track, with its prominent bass and spacey, echoey nature, aiming to capture this “otherworldly” feeling in their sonics

SUNDAY (1994)

There’s a raw, melancholy feel to the music put out by transatlantic trio, Sun-day (1994). Formed by Paige Turner and Lee Newell, and completed by a mysterious drummer only identified as ‘X’, the band captures a cinematic sound and pairs it with atmospheric sonics and a striking vintage aesthetic. Not only is their band name cinematically stylised but so is their music and the entire immersive world that surrounds it. Having released their self-titled debut EP back in September, the band have started to cause a buzz amongst the indie scene, and rightfully so – they come complete with the whole package. The music glistens and has the nostalgic edge of an old romantic film, turning the mundane into the extraordinary.

LIZZIE ESAU

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Radiohead, Wolf Alice and Beabadoobee, Lizzie Esau, the 25 year old singer-songwriter whose career started in Newcastle in 2020, belts fiery and relatable lyrics along to heavy instrumentals, whilst wearing a pair of fairy wings on stage, completely captivating her audience. Creating songs belonging in the alternative and indie rock genres, she has already gained support from the likes of Dork and Clash. From recording in her bedroom to performing on the BBC introducing stage at Glastonbury Festival, Lizzie Esau is showing no signs of slowing down.

HANZTHEMAN

Taking the plunge to pursue his lifelong passion for music, Hanz moved from Lagos, Nigeria to Bristol, England in 2023. This dynamic artist utilises his intimate lyricism to express and navigate the human condition, personal relationships, love, and politics; which are all manifested inhis latest single banKai, alongside his punchy beats. Known for both his collaborative and solo efforts, as well as being influenced by the likes of Buju Banton, Burna Boy, and Tracy Chapman, Hanztheman has crafted a delicious niche fusion of the hip-hop, rap and afro-beat genres that have you bouncing your head and hitting replay again and again
