Shakota

By Resonate | June 9, 2021

West London is brimming with talent at the moment and Shakota is no exception. The 18-year-old is making ripples in the newly coined ‘bedroom pop’ genre, characterised by artists such as Cosmo Pyke and Mac DeMarco to name but a few. Shakota’s French-inspired singles Mon Fleur and Toulouse Blues transport the listener to a young Parisian fairytale, with his mellow voice and nostalgic guitar riffs giving a feeling of déjà vu. His latest EP Notes 2 Self is exactly what it says on the tin, and feels as though you are looking into this artist’s teenage journal. This makes for one intimate and personal listening experience not to be missed.
